‘Bio Strata’

A new collaborative sculpture by Florence Blanchard and Coralie Turpin is set to transform Trippet Lane in Sheffield with a striking fusion of biology-inspired forms and geological features. The new sculpture is about to be installed on the facade of 1 Penton St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield (next to Trippet Wine Bar) S1 4EL.

Echoing the city’s heritage of steelmaking, craftsmanship and its vibrant multicultural neighbourhoods, the piece pairs robust three-dimensional steel elements with richly coloured and textured mosaic, including colours drawn from the building’s own branding palette.

Wrapping the most prominent corner of the building and spanning two floors, the artwork weaves together mosaic steel circles, mirror polished stainless-steel pyramids and a clusters of small domed triangles that ripple across the façade. The result is a high-end, contemporary landmark, textured and uplifting that reflects the building’s identity while celebrating the creativity and industrious history of the surrounding area.
